You could hear the trim motor still running, but it would not advance up or back down. I ended up using the manual release valve to lower the engine back down. Starting around 1996 OMC changed their tilt/trim assembly. When you flip the trailering bracket down and then lower the engine onto these brackets, the engine stops right there.
